Chch Combined Girls 420 Teams Racing Teams New Plymouth Nationals

April school holidays saw myself, Pip and 6 sailors with 4 being members of Charteris Bay Yacht Club head up to the New Plymouth Nationals as the Chch Combined Girls Teams Racing Team. Teams racing is an extemely fast version of sailing a short course with a lot of action requiring alot of technical skill. It's great for forming friendships with other sailors when you would normally sail against each other. 4.5 days of very competative sailing, 30 teams, 261 sailors and 397 races with winds gusting above 25knots one afternoon made for some very exciting racing. I had a great view of the girls sailing (actually all of the sailing) from the startboat and the girls tactics improved incredibly throughout  the 4:5 days which saw them attempting mark traps and lorries in very tricky sea conditions. The girls finished the New Plymouth Nationals 2nd in Bronze fleet and 3rd Womens teams in NZ. Well done to Chloe Clinch, Millie Limbrick, Lucy Luxford, Mila Blundell, Oak Galbraith and Amy Viles, as their team manager I received numerous completements on the girls sportmanship, manners and positive attitude. It was a pleasure to spend every wednesday with them throughout the last 3 seasons. I'm now signing off from the job and I know I will miss my wednesday afternoons on the water. Sailing mum, Kim Clinch
