A word from The Commodore:

Sunday August 30th was brisk to say the least, but did not stop the hardy members who turned out to our working bee. A dedicated team of trophy polishers put in several hours getting our silverware up to the pristine standard we expect (incidentally, please do not use Brasso). At 15:00 shovels, brooms and newly polished trophies were put aside for the first ever Dark Star Beer Tasting. Martine and Donna did a great job introducing us to four different local and domestic craft beers. The assembled masses agreed that we should look at supplying craft beers at some of our regattas. The prize giving went well with only a few not present to pick up their prizes. I do want to add a personal apology. We have many very talented junior sailors and during my presentation and in my haste to keep the prize giving rattling along I missed out two: Ruby Baynes and Katie Hadfield. Both these young ladies had a great season, posted very high rankings and have been selected to represent NZ at international events. My mistake ladies, you have done extremely well and our club is very proud of how you represent CBYC both on and off the water. The CBYC committee also wishes to recognise the outstanding services to the club over a number of decades by Jeff Morrison and Nigel Soper who were both elected for  Life Membership.
